DIY projects are hard enough, right?! Generally, you are teaching yourself a new skill or letting your creative juices flow. Bringing kids into the mix adds a whole new element of crazy. And let me tell you, it gets messy. It’s a funny thing really. It is exhausting and frustrating at times, but at the end of the day sharing our passion and work ethics makes every bob and weave, worth it. Not to mention all those sweet memories made. Seeing their faces beam with delight, because they ‘helped,’ makes every child induced mishap worth while. There isn’t a DIY project that happens on schedule, or as planned, thanks to our little monster’s. There will inevitably be nap times to work around, faces to feed and kids crawling all over us, at the most inopportune times, of course. But, it always gets done and the pride we feel in ‘doing it ourselves’ outweighs all the annoyances 0-none. Not to mention all the cash we have saved along the way.
I feel the best way to attack your DIY projects, is to set healthy, realistic goals. Two to three steps per day seems to work out well for us. If its a larger project, than even one to two steps is preferred. With this method, we find we are more productive. When we scheduling more than we can handle, it becomes stressful, less fun or not at all and we have found we accomplish much less than if we set weighty but obtainable goals.
Our most recent project has been a playroom rainbow {photographed in progress and actual candid shots of trying to dial down this design}. Check back for the blog on how to achieve this arch in my next post by subscribing to my email list.
