These little balls of goodness are great for so many reasons… not just lactating Mama’s, However, I do like to call them ‘Lactation bombs, due to their impeccable ability to help boost milk production. They are packed with healthy fats, protein and deliciousness. If you are in fact nursing, they are a great snack to pop during those late night feeding sessions, they’ll quickly curb your appetite and boost those NEEDED calories for a healthy supply, while being extra yummy, all without the guilt.
But like I said before, they’re also just a great alternative for a sweet tooth, good for all and a healthier conscience way to curb those cravings.
The original recipe was given to me by a friend after giving birth to my second daughter. I have since tweaked it enough to where I am confident it is my own, and that makes me happy because I can’t find the original poster {sorry}. Now, like all my other recipes on here, you will find my measurements are rough because really I just cook off of look and taste, these are no exception. So, with that said please feel free to experiment with your own portions or additions to make them your own! I hope you enjoy
In one bowl, mix-
2 cups oatmeal {dry}
1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1/4 cup cacao chips or mini dark chocolate chips
1 large table spoon of raw honey
1/2 cup raw almond butter
2 Tablespoons of brewer’s yeast {can omit, however this adds a wonderfully nutty taste and is packed with vitamins, helps control blood sugar levels and helps support your nervous system while maintaining healthy skin and hair, to name a few.}
A couple dashes of COARSE GROUND sea salt {coarse ground really makes a difference in adding that salty sweet taste}
1 Teaspoon of cinnamon
Can you believe it? That’s it!
Mix together with your hands. Form balls about an inch in size by pinching mixture and tightly packing into palm of hand. No bake, no fuss. Just form and toss in the refrigerator for about 30 min. Its so simple my toddler helps me… plus she loves them and thinks she getting a serious treat.
